What BMI does and doesn't tell you

BMI is your weight in kilograms divided by your height in metres squared. It's a population-level screening tool that ignores muscle mass, body composition, ethnicity and age.

Muscular people often score "overweight" while being metabolically healthy. Use BMI as a rough reference and talk to a clinician for a real assessment.

These results are estimates for healthy adults. They are not medical advice. Speak to a doctor or registered dietitian before making significant dietary changes.
